During a backup, the Event Viewer Application Log records the following error: "I/O error on backup or restore restart-checkpoint file 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$BKUPEXEC\backup\model4IDR.ckp.' Operating system error 3: "The system cannot find the path specified. The statement is proceeding but is non-restartable."

"I/O error on backup or restore restart-checkpoint file 'C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$BKUPEXEC\backup\model4IDR.ckp'. Operating system error 3(The system cannot find the path specified.). The statement is proceeding but is non-restartable."

Details:
VERITAS Backup Exec (tm) 9.1 media servers with the Intelligent Disaster Recovery option may experience an Event ID 17055 in the Event Viewer Application Log (Figure 1).

To resolve this, create a directory named backup under C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL$BKUPEXEC\.
