Message:
The system failed to register host (A or AAAA) resource records (RRs) for network adapter
with settings:

Adapter Name : 27E49756-7394-4750-8CDC-8D3EAF944953
Host Name : YOURSERVER
Primary Domain Suffix : yourdomain.local
DNS server list :
192.168.2.10, 192.168.2.11
Sent update to server : 192.168.2.10:53
IP Address(es) :
192.168.2.95

The reason the system could not register these RRs was because of a security related problem. The cause of this could be (a) your computer does not have permissions to register and update the specific DNS domain name set for this adapter, or (b) there might have been a problem negotiating valid credentials with the DNS server during the processing of the update request.

You can manually retry DNS registration of the network adapter and its settings by typing "ipconfig /registerdns" at the command prompt. If problems still persist, contact your DNS server or network systems administrator. For specific error code, see the record data displayed below.

We got this error daily on a host where Windows 2008 had been installed twice in a short time period, resulting in wrong security permissions for the DNS A record.

When Windows was installed the 2nd time, the DNS record already existed on the DNS server, and the security permissions were not correctly adjusted - the computer account (YOURSERVER$ in this case) did not have permission to modify the record.

Simply right-click the A record in DNS, select properties, select security and make sure that the respective computer account has full control/read/write permission for its own record. In our case, there was no ACE for the computer account at all, and it needed to be added.
